Happy Candy Day

Simon carved such scary pumpkins he himself was scared.

But there was one friendly pumpkin at our house too.

Mama did not actually hoard all of the candy.

The wizards of Halloween were quite happy.

A New Chapter

This is a beautiful woman who is about to start a new chapter in her life!

To celebrate Sarah's 40th birthday and to spend time together before she lives NYC, Sarah and I had a fun and funny night being…

Total tourists.
I took her on a Grayline tour of the city!  We were certainly the only New Yorkers on the bus.  (I'll admit I was a little disappointed it wasn't a double decker bus.)

We had many stops that were a lot of fun- a walk of the high line park (which is lovely after dark), a boat out to the Statue of Liberty (look closely and you can barely see her in the background of the picture below), dinner in Little Italy (for future refernce you can skip Grotta Azura), and a trip up to The Top of the Rock.

It was fun to see the city in a different way.  If was fun to be with Sarah.
I'm going to miss her.  A lot.

Seriously Cute

Simon and Phoebe.
Our good friends, Raph and Deeanna, had Phoebe's 1st birthday party and Simon had an absolute blast playing with her.  He was so sweet and patient and in love.

How To Spend Your Money When You Are Seven

After Simon's big sale he had $52!  We wondered what he would spend it on.  His final choice?

His very own fountain!

Along with a spinning crystal ball it has super cool LED lights.

He seems to like it a lot.

New York, New York- What a Wonderful Town

Grandma Sue and Grandpa Steve showed up for a fun filled weekend.  They brought…
Brussel Sprouts

Simon and Grandpa discussed a shared love, rocks.

Simon got to walk a dog for the first time.  Our local shelter, Sean Casey Rescue, has volunteers help out and walk dogs whenever they'd like.  It's a great way for Simon to bond with dogs even though we can't have one.

And here are Grandma and Grandpa making their way through times square...

Simon too…
all on their way to...

The Lion King!

Simon got to see his very first full length Broadway musical.  He loved it.  Seriously, he laughed, he cried, he talked back to the characters, and at the end of the show he said, "Well, I enjoyed biting my nails through that."

After, at 11:00 PM he could hardly stay awake to get home.

Yard Sale (With No Yard)

Simon was interested in making some extra money and decided he wanted to have a yard sale.  Our lack of yard or anything yard like was a small obstacle but we were determined.

Simon did an excellent job of planning out the whole thing, collecting appropriate items, pricing everything, making signs, and setting up- all with minimal help.

Here are the signs to advertise.

And here is the sale.  We set up next to our local playground.  It probably wasn't legal but no one came by to tell us to leave.  Simon worked his sale for two hours!  You'll notice the pickin's are slim in the picture below because this was taken at the end- he sold a lot of stuff.

Simon really saw this project through to the end and he made over $50!
Wait until you see what he spent it on…
But that's a post for another time.
