Volunteering

Simon, Daddy and Mama volunteered at a chess tournament this weekend.   PS 503 has an amazing chess team that won nationals last year.  If you love the shirts they are available in all kinds of colors for $12- all the money goes to fund this years trip to nationals.

Simon loved helping sell food!

Why are we so happy?  Because PS 503 won the tournament!
(Actually, we didn't know that until later, but we're often happy!)

What's This?

It looks like we took a trip to the aquarium and saw a lovely litle fish...

But no!  It is our very own ten gallon fish tank.

Here are Simon and Daddy working very hard to introduce the new fish to the tank- 5 zebra danios.   After a several works we will be adding more fish to the tank.

And no one should worry about Whitetail, she's doing just fine in her bowl.

Apples And More

We had a lovely long weekend here in NYC.
(Thank you, Jews.)

We spent one day in upstate around ( and in) Ossining.

First was apple picking.  Do you think Simon has enough?

Daddy knew exactly what you were supposed to do with apples.

It turned out to be quite a social affair.  We knew our friends Brooke, Faride, and Phoenyx might show up, which they did.  We had Phoenyx's birthday gift with us, she enjoyed opening it.  And in a wonderful coincidence, as we pulled up we spotted Simon's very good friend Sam (with his family of course) so they basically had free run of the orchard.

After lots of picking, there was a bit of hiking.  Daddy wasn't so sure that Simon and Mama understood that we were hiking and not on stage.  It was a nice hike, though Simon and Mama were both a bit sick so we didn't go as far as we planned.

Then our day ending with a lovely little waterfront restaurant on the Hudson.
This was the view from our table.

Other Events

We had a fun but very wet day at the zoo with Iva and Jesse.

Simon's getting ready for Halloween already.

A Tale

This is the on-going story of Whitetail.
As you may remember, Simon won whitetail while at camp in Rochester.
This is how she came home from camp.

Here is Simon getting her water ready.

This is the first water change- luckily we did not lose her down the drain!!!

While we don't have a picture of how Whitetail came home from Brooklyn, she seemed to handle the trip well.  And here is a picture of her in her first home in Brooklyn.  Her bowl sits among other fun animals on top of Simon's book shelf.

More news about her soon!

Other Bits From Rochester

The lovely glow on Julia and Will is from a Lake Ontario sunset.  We got to celebrate our anniversary in a lighthouse B&B.  Thanks Grandma and Grandpa!

What could Grandpa Steve and SImon be studying?

The map for our epic canoe trip!  OK, not actually epic, but an hour through lovely waterways that lead to Irondequoit bay.

And a trip to the Museum of Play was cappen off with yummy lunch and silly faces.  At least Grandma looks lovely.
