Today Is Really The FIrst Day

Of Summer!!!

We have all finished school (Will got an A+ for his summer course) so we celebrated by going to the beach today.

Simon and Mama had a great time in the waves and Daddy was a willing photographer.

We met other boys there and they all enjoyed themselves very much.

We'll take a lot of beach trips this summer, but the first is special.

T-Ball is Over

T-ball ended two Saturdays ago- Simon doesn't seem to miss it.
However, here are some final fun shots of our slugger.
(OK- the farthest the ball ever went was about twenty feet.)

Team spirit.

Official photo- Thijs is on the far left, Simon just right of center (the tallest by far once again), Caleb on the far right, and Zachary is kneeling in the right- to point out some of his best buddies.

Simon's Book From Beansprouts

Simon's teachers made beautiful scrap books for each child in the class- I will be scanning in the pages over the next several days- here is installment #1.

Getting Happy on Father's Day

On the train going to Daddy's race- it was 7:45 AM! We must really love Daddy!

Simon waiting at the start of his race- you'll notice he is one of the only boys listening to the guy in charge.

And you'll notice a very happy Simon who seems to be at the back of the pack- in his defense, he listened and waited to run until he heard the word, "Go!" Many other racers started on the words, "Get ready..."

Aftert both races we enjoyed a picnic in a great playground in central park. We are so proud of Daddy- this is his 6th race this year! Which means he only has to run two more to qualify for the marathon in 2011. Of course, then the really hard work begins.

And on a personal note- Happy Father's Day Will- I couldn't imagine a better person to be Dad to Simon. I love you. -Julia

Stuiff from School

An ant and his food.

Self-portrait. (detail)

And look what came in the mail...

And even though we knew Simon's class was visiting the post office and we were asked to bring in a stamp, Will and I were taken by surprise by this letter!

Events of Early June

Eleanor came to visit. She'd never met Simon and She and Julia hadn't seen each other in 5 years. It was a very welcome visit.

We all went to a party to meet Simon's Teachers for next year.
Here Simon and Zachary do puzzles (and eat muffin) with Mai and Neimh.

This is Jaclyn. While Simon will miss Lauren a lot, Jaclyn seems really lovely and full of enthusiasm.

And then there is this- post-bath, reclining, naked guitar playing. Of course.

Memorial Day Fun

Grandma Sue and Grandpa Steve came to visit for Memorial Day- and even though Simon looks unhappy about it in this picture he was just being silly- he had a great time!

Grandpa Steve was brave enough to run through the sprinklers too-

Cousin Sarah was back from Cambodia- Simon was pleased.

And we spent time with Aunt Erica and Uncle Peter (not in this picture of canon balls.)
