More More Roch

Daddy was sad that Mama wanted to take a picture of his messy hair after a morning of skiing! Finally- after 8 years- we went skiing again. And we still remembered how. We had a great time and even tackled a blakc diamond slope- not pictured.

And to round out the snow activities, there was some sledding,

And yes, snow shoveling.

It was a fun and snowy trip. Now we are ready for warmer weather. Soon. Very very soon.

More Of Rochester

Grandpa Steve tought Simon about the grand tradition of men grilling. In the snow.

And Grandma Sue made an excellent announcer declaring the arrival of the King.

And later the Court Jester. And many, many other characters not pictured.

And can you guess why Daddy looks like this?

Rochester Rocks!

We went to Rochester for a few days and had a wonderful time. We did a lot! We got in around 2:00 and by 5:00 we were on a good old fashioned sleigh ride (with hot chocolate!). It was beautiful going through the park at dusk.

And the the next morning-- we went tubing! Here are Simon and Mama at the top of the hill...

and at the bottom! We all had a blast and even Grandma Sue rode down the hill several times!

One of Simon's great Birthday Gifts was a marble run set. We broke it out today and it was lots of fun.

And the Simon drew a picture of it.

And this is very silly.

Kids On the Slide

This is party guests going down the slide- we don't have Simon doing this on video- but he loved it too!

Singing Happy Birthday at School

Simon's class sings happy birthday at school. You'll notice him looking around for a candle. The treat was ice cream bars so a candle wouldn't really work.

And Then

And then we went to Beansprouts to celebrate birthday cirlce.
Mama talked about getting Simon from Phoenix and Daddy read a funny book.

And there were more treats and hugs. How is that Simon keeps getting surrounded by girls? And did you notice that Chi Chi is always there!

And If That Wasn't Enough

So after all that birthday celebrating (we didn't even mention the dinner and lunch out with Papa Dan and Grandma Jean) on Monday we celebrated more! Simon's whole class came to visit our house. This wasn't for his birthday exactly, we just decided to do it all in one day to make it 'easier'.

Everyone had snack.

There was drawing.

There was hanging in side of spheres.

There was playing with wind up toys.

There was also playing with just about every toy in the house we hadn't hidden. But the kids really did pick up after themselves so the clean up wasn't too bad.

This Is Not A Set Up

And after that amazing party, how could a person ever get to sleep?
By holding on to one of the balloons.
We did not set this picture up.
We did carefully untangle Simon after taking the photo.

Last Of The Party Pics

The final things that make the party the BEST?
Cutting your own cake!

And eating it!!!!! (This may be my favorite photo, it shows Simon's priorities were very clear. Eat cake.)

Video from the party coming soon.

And a plug- we hosted the party at Bounce U. They were as good a place as could be imagined for a party. And though Lydia and Hakim will never see this- I hope that karma is real and they get great things in thier lives because they made our time very special and easy.

What else makes turning five great?
Decorating your own cake! (at 7:15AM)

Wearing special socks to bounce in! (Daddy opted out of rainbow socks.)

Sharing your birthday throne!

Eating pizza with your friends! (We notice that Simon has two lovely ladies flanking him- one of them was even in tears when she thought she wasn't going to be next to Simon. Really.)
