Getting Ready For Christmas

We arrived in Rochester and helped to decorate the tree.



Well, some of us helped decorate the tree.

Alan had an unorthodox way to get the tree topper on.  He was unsuccessful.

 

Nope- Not Christmas Yet

Our family gathered to celebrate a late Hanukah and there were lots of presents!


Iva and SImon both were very pleased.  (Clara would have been pleased too, but she stayed home sick.)

This is my favorite picture.

After presents- candles and good eating!  We all read the story of Hanukah together and enjoyed delicious latkes.  Thanks Uncle Peter and Aunt Erica!

Then came the sad ride home.

This was our dining room table at 7 the next morning- Simon particually was excitied to get out his poster making kit.  Which included lots of glitter.

 

How To Put Up A Christmas Tree Garland Style

Perpare the space.



Walk through the snow. 

Dive into the netter? 

 

Place the tree in the shopping cart and hug.




Fiddle with the base.

Wear your Halloween pajamas as long johns?

(There are many steps not pictured here-
Forget to water the tree.
Realize some lights are broken.
Spread out ornaments on a couch?
Sit on couch and break an ornament.
Keep rediscovering favorite ornaments.
Laugh a lot.)

More Cousins?

Yup.
Simon was thrilled to find out that he had more cousins in Brooklyn.  We went out to brunch with my cousin Peter (a director of plays) and his wife, their daughter, and his parents, my Aunt and Uncle.  Simon struggled to keep everyone straight.

Here's Pete, Bella, and Simon.  They seemed to really enjoy each other.



There was a lot of jumping too.

 

It Was A L-O-N-G Weekend

But fun.  Simon and I played with make-up.  I think I should get big parenting points for this one.

These are out of order, they were taken the weekend before the marathon- but Simon and Phoebe are cute enough for any time!

The time is unofficial as yet, but it is a time that Will feels very good about.  He ran a smart and happy race- as you can see from the picture below.  This is at mile 23.


Maybe it was seeing Simon that made him so happy.

We feel so proud.
Marathon number 2 is huge success.  I think he may already be planning number 3.
